Dive Scapa Flow.

Scapa Flow Trip. 17th to 24th May 2003

Brian Smith, the trip organiser says: Come and see the German battle Fleet.

This is going to be an amazing trip with 2 dives a day (guaranteed) & more if you can handle it. There will be one or two Trimix dives available for those with the qualifications.

The boat has a compressor on board and can fill Nitrox and Trimix.

The area has  lots of scenery to see and history to look at.

I now have 7 deposits paid and have 9 names for the remaining 5 of the 12 places so come on guys get your hands in your pockets. Remember only a deposit secures you place. Those left will go on a waiting list in case of drop outs.

But remember guys this is not a trip to see how many pubs you can crawl out of!

Scapa Flow wrecks.

The German Imperial Navy's High Seas Fleet was interned in Scapa Flow (Orkney Islands) for the last seven months of the 1914/1918 war as a condition of the Armistice.   On June 21st 1919, Rear Admiral von Reuter in command of the German High Seas Fleet gave the order for the whole Fleet of 74 warships  to be scuppered to prevent them falling into allied hands, Many have since been salvaged but 8 of them remain. There are also other diveable wrecks in Scapa flow.

If you want to learn about the wrecks of Scapa Flow you could start with this link which provides plenty of historical background, photos and dive reports: Scapa Flow and its Wrecks
