Love ironing?? I hate ironing but this is something
completely different. Extreme ironing is a fairly new sport
where people take their ironing board and do their ironing in
extreme places, such as the top of mountains or whilst
sky-diving. You can find out more by visiting the Extreme
Ironing web site on this link.

You may see on the above link some divers ironing in clear blue
warm tropical waters, well my diving buddy Ian and I plan to
do some extreme ironing in the challenging environment of the
North Sea and help raise much needed funds for Hornsea Rescue
We have chosen a local wreck called the Longbenton about 4
miles off Mappleton Village and will be joined by Hornsea
Rescue who will witness the event. We will also take some
underwater photos as proof.
Hornsea Rescue is an independent voluntary organization and
plans to relocate to new premises in 2004. The local council
has gifted some land and now Hornsea Rescue has to raise funds
for the construction of the new facility. The building will
not only include a place to keep the boat but classroom
facilities for educational and conservation projects.
There are two things we need to help us achieve this, a 4
mile long extension lead (only joking) but more importantly
some sponsorship. So, please stop me and put your name to
paper, or, you can click here to Email
Tony and make a pledge.
Diving is very much weather dependent, hence we have two
dates planned, the weekend 13/14th September and weekend 4/5th
October. If the weather, or surf, stops us launching we will
revert to Stoney Cove an inland flooded quarry near Leicester.
This event is attracting some local media coverage, so look
out for us in the local press.
All monies raised will be submitted to the BP matched
funding scheme.
Tony Hodge.
They did it. Check
this out on the Extreme Ironing web site.
