Disabled and want to dive?
Tony Hodge, our Diving Officer and instructor, is Diving Disability Awareness Trained.
He took the course in order to raise awareness in how the club can include people with Visual, Hearing or Physical Impairment and to give them the confidence and additional skills to enable them to dive.
The course focussed on the instructor's interpersonal skills encouraging open mindedness, communication and understanding. It looks to practical considerations for diver training and how basic scuba gear can be adapted for the disabled student.
