Marine Conservation

Links and Contacts

We have a marine conservation area at Breil Nook just North of Selwick Bay on the Flambrough coast. We plan to survey the area and present the results here.

Some of our members have attended the Seasearch observer course. This helps make the club's efforts meaningful and our findings can be combined with a national project  to produce an overall and detailed picture of the marine habitat around our coast.

More on Seasearch

Seasearch arrange training on 2 levels for people interested in gathering data:

1. Seasearch observer - one day classroom based, followed up by 5 dives (two with a tutor present) and you get signed up as a Seasearch observer.

2. Seasearch surveyor - aimed at experienced Seasearch observers with a background and knowledge of marine life and marine life recording. This is a 2 day course.

Lots of information on the Seasearch website
