Well they are back and have agreed to come and see us
on Tuesday 13th July 2004, 21:30, Duke of
Cumberland, Cottingham.
US Archeological Survey Team Presentation.
Tuesday 17th September 2003, 9.30pm, Duke of Cumberland,
Cottingham.
There is a team of 5 US divers here in the UK to do an
archeological survey on the wreck of the Bonhomme
Richard which lies off the Filey coast.
They are being
sponsored by National Geographic and the US Government due to
the wrecks US Naval historical importance . The Bonhomme
Richard has been featured in a recent TV series and is getting
National and more detailed regional news coverage and has been
recently featured in Dive/Diver magazine.

It has been declared a protected wreck site. The team are diving the wreck this week and next week before their return to the US.
This team has
recently surveyed the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbour and raised
the first US submarine 'The Henley' which also featured
recently on TV.
The presentation will cover several aspects of their work
world wide and may give the club the latest news on the
Bonhomme Richard.
