St Abbs 2002

Yes, by popular demand we shall be heading back up north to St. Abbs for the FIFTH Annual Dive-weekend. Put it in your diary and tell your boss that you need time off, for this is an ideal start to the diving season.

For all those newer members, I’ve decided to give you a brief rundown of the weekend-maybe it will sway the waverers and swell numbers (24 on this year’s trip!)

Normally, we set off Friday morning and congregate on the harbour for a dive in the afternoon. Those unable to travel until the afternoon/evening just miss out on this dive. Car sharing is organized where possible.

Accommodation is in comfortable B&B (cost ~£20-£25pp per night) in single, twin or family rooms, situated around the village. A camp-site is also available nearby (please let me know if you prefer this option).

The main bulk of the diving is done Saturday & Sunday, from a hardboat (2 dives/day cost ~£7-£10 per dive). The dive sites are organized to cater for the least experienced member of the party, whilst still giving good diving for the rest of the party. The area is ideal for inexperienced divers and there are opportunities for building your knowledge-one of the benefits of a Club trip.

Saturday evening sees the expedition dinner, held at the local hotel restaurant. Other meals are as you wish – café/chippies/pubs/takeaways all exist.

Total cost of the weekend is ~£100, excluding travelling costs and drinks.

I have eighteen names down already, which gives you an idea of it’s popularity. Non-diving Partners are welcome, but be aware-there’s not a lot for them to do whilst you are diving and the post-dive talk is usually about diving.

I shall be asking for a small deposit (£10-non refundable if you pull out) to confirm your place. Don’t miss out! – BOOK EARLY!

What else can I tell you?

Oh yes-the dates!

Friday 10th May – Sunday 12th May
